North Suffolk Library

The Central Lobby is the focal point of the building. Indirect metal halide lighting is used to extenuate the height of the lobby and provide even illumination. The center pendants mounted close to the ceiling provide an architectural feature in the room while not dimensioning the volume of the space.
The satellite offices have energy efficient parabolic fixtures in the high ceiling to compliment the Lobby.
The Periodical Room serves as a transition space between the Central Lobby and the Library. 2x4 recessed parabolic fixtures are used to establish contrast between the main Lobby and the Library. Energy efficient, perforated, linear fixtures are used over the stacks to compliment the theme of the building, providing even illumination.
Recessed parabolic fixtures are used over activity areas to provide visual cues for different functions of the spaces while maintaining the lighting levels. In the Adult Library the center section divides the reading and research collections with recessed parabolic fixtures for visual cues and to provide a comfortable seating and reading areas.
